What is the tax deadline for filing 2024 Individual Returns?

The deadline for filing 2025 tax returns is Wednesday, April 15, 2026.  This is also the due date for requesting a tax extension.

What is a Tax Extension?

A Tax extension provide an automatic six-month extension (until October 15, 2026 for 2025 returns) to file your federal & state income tax returns. If an extension is filed, you will not receive a penalty for filing late. However, you may still incur penalties and interest if any taxes owed are not paid by the original tax deadline.

What if I’m unable to file my taxes by the deadline?

KEY-2-TAXES can file an extension on your behalf (Form 4868), or you may apply directly with the IRS and your State. It is important to note, that an extension does not give you additional time to pay any taxes owed. It only provides an extra six-months to file your return.

Can KEY-2-TAXES help collect and organize my tax information to prepare a tax return?

Yes. We are happy to help collect and organize the tax information needed to prepare your return. This service is included with our bookkeeping services and includes organizing and categorizing expenses for a fee in addition to tax preparation.
